Learned some stuff today... Check out http://thraxil.dhs.org/diary.pl?user=sarah and scroll to the bottom. It is a version of this page stuck inside in an iFrame. Old browsers may bork though. I found the code to do this at http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex17/iframescroll.htm But the second bit didn't work for me, so I sort of dumped it, and set scrolling=yes in the upper bit.

Rename "The Two Towers" to Something Less Offensive Petition Petition Petition
To:? Peter Jackson and New Line Cinema

Those of us who have seen The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring know what an amazing director Peter Jackson is. When I learned that there apparently was to be a sequel, I was overjoyed. However, Peter Jackson has decided to tastelessly name the sequel "The Two Towers". The title is clearly meant to refer to the attacks on the World Trade Center. In this post-September 11 world, it is unforgiveable that this should be allowed to happen. The idea is both offensive and morally repugnant. Hopefully, when Peter Jackson and, more importantly, New Line Cinema see the number of signatures on this petition, the title will be changed to something a little more sensitive.

IHT: Chirac crushes Le Pen in runoff... thank god. I'm sort of relieved... because speaking to people who were trying to work everyone up into a panic to vote, there was no complacency, and lot of discussion of what would happen if somehow he won. Well, perhaps not that bad, but I am a sucker for that sort of thing. Anyway, France, this time, gets to applaud its openness and frankness. That Le Pen exists doesn't make them facist, just diverse. That he gets votes may be more a function of confusion and globalization in the idiotclass than racism. And the fact that everyone got up and bounce him flat is the core of civilization.

Couldn't happen in america... due to lack of choice?

I had a dream about people from Thraxil last night. It is my first dream about anything online, and I hope it never happens again. Luckily I forgot most of it... but there was an Anders-type and a Lani-type, and I guess a Tuck and Emile or two. We were in New York. I've never been to New York... and it was more like New York meets Gotham City meets a glass and marble shopping mall designer's wet dream. And we were going to a party, and we were all in a very large washroom 'freshing up', and psyching ourselves up. I'm used to co-ed washrooms. Then we went up to the party. I woke up realizing I had to take a pee.

The question is why I would think it was New York, and full of Thraxilites... but I did. Everyone even talked like they do, in my mind. Though I'd never thought of that either. I think it was in New York because Anders was being cocky like Sienfeld (which I've never seen an epsiode of) and Lani sounded like "The Nanny" which is as popular in france as Jerry Lewis.

Following its Toronto world-premiere in the 1980's, the pope-mobile is scheduled to make a second appearance here this summer, pope health-permitting, for World Youth Day. Kiss Machine plans to celebrate the occasion by revving our 8-cylinder religion engines and dissecting the ethics of car-culture.

The fifth issue of Kiss Machine will be a conga line of religions, anti-religions, car models, exhaust fumes, politics, dashboard paraphernalia, bumper stickers, spirituality and slacker culture. That's right, we're going to preach about cars and religion. The tiniest link between the two concepts will likely make us succumb to temptation. We will also consider pieces that only include one of the themes, react in opposition to them, or just refer to them in passing. For a better idea of the kind of work we like, check out our website: www.kissmachine.org

We're looking for art, photographs, cartoons, collages, poetry, short and not-so-short fiction, and non-fiction (whether experimental or straight).
If you are so inclined, please don't hesitate to send us something visual. Interventions and suggestions are also welcome. Please send an abstract of 50-200 words for non-fiction, a short story, 2-3 poems or 2-3 images (for black and white reproduction). Or write us if you have something special in mind.
